Museum of Intrigue: Sensory Inclusive Certified

Published: 01/27/2020

Syracuse, NY (January 27, 2020) KultureCity has partnered with Escape The Estate, LLC to make the Museum of Intrigue at Destiny USA and all of the programs and events that the venue hosts to be sensory inclusive. This new initiative will promote an accommodating and positive experience for all guests and fans with any sensory issues that visit the Museum of Intrigue.Screen Shot 2020 01 28 at 12.08.37 PM

The certification process entailed the staff at the Museum of Intrigue being trained by leading medical professionals on how to recognize those guests and fans with sensory needs and how to handle a sensory overload situation. Sensory bags, equipped with noise canceling headphones (provided by Puro Sound Labs), fidget tools, verbal cue cards (produced in conjunction with Boardmaker) and weighted lap pads will also be available to all guests at the Museum of Intrigue at Destiny USA who may feel overwhelmed by the environment.

Sensory sensitivities or challenges with sensory regulation are often experienced by individuals with autism, dementia, PTSD and other similar conditions. One of the major barriers for these individuals is sensitivity to over stimulation and noise, which is an enormous part of the environment in a venue like the Museum of Intrigue. With its new certification, the Museum of Intrigue is now better prepared to assist guests with sensory sensitivities in having the most comfortable and accommodating experience possible when attending any event at the Museum of Intrigue.

Prior to attending an event, families can download the free KultureCity App where one can view what sensory features are available and where they can access them. Also, on the App is the Social Story which will provide a preview of what to expect while enjoying an event at Museum of Intrigue.

“To know that you soon will be able to enjoy an interactive gaming experience with their loved ones who have a sensory challenge and who were not able to previously visit, is truly a heartwarming moment. Our communities are what shapes our lives and to know that the Museum of Intrigue is willing to go the extra mile to ensure that everyone, no matter their ability, is included in their community is amazing.” Dr. Julian Maha, Co-Founder, KultureCity.

The Museum of Intrigue is produced by Escape The Estate, LLC. Their interactive gaming concept started in Syracuse, NY in 2017 and is the only one of it’s kind in the world to date. The Intrigue model specializes in multigenerational gaming with their main  adventurer base ranging in ages of 7-77! Museum of Intrigue is located on the 3rd floor of Destiny USA in between the IMAX Theater and RPM Raceway. More information can be found at: museumofintrigue.com.
